MeeScan Self-Checkout for circulating materials (not Course Reserve)

Last year, the UNH Franklin Pierce Law Library launched the MeeScan self-checkout tool at the library. MeeScan is a cloud-based self-checkout system that allows you to use your smartphones, tablets, or a Station/Kiosk to check out circulating materials. The system uses the built-in camera of your smartphone or tablet to scan the item barcode, allowing for quicker service. MeeScan is user-friendly, simple to setup, and helps limit long wait times!

Currently the Kiosk is on the main floor right by the Reference Desk and across from the Circulation Desk.

The Law Library also has an app you can download as well as a Station/Kiosk you can use to check out your own materials.

How to Use the MeeScan Self-checkout Station/Kiosk to Check Out a Book.

  • At the self-checkout Kiosk iPad (near the Reference Desk on the main floor) press "Start" on the screen.
  • Next, tap your UNH Law Student ID on the reader attached to the right side of the Kiosk iPad.
  • Locate the barcode on your book.  The barcode is usually on the back of the book and the bottom of the barcode sticker reads either “UNH School of Law” or “Franklin Pierce Law Center.”
  • Hold the book so that the barcode is facing up.
  • Place the book on the white station to the right of the iPad screen. Ensure that the spine of the book is resting against the guide and the barcode faces upward toward the scanner (the scanner is the tall blue lighted stand just left of the white station).
  • Slide the book towards the barcode scanner red light.  Keep sliding until the red scanning line crosses the barcode.  You may hear a faint beep when the barcode is scanned.
  • A red light indicates a problem. Make sure the book has been checked out and is showing in your MeeScan Kiosk (iPad screen). If you get this red light, please try again.  If the problem persists, please see the library staff at the Circulation desk.
  • Continue the process for each book.
  • After all books have been deactivated, a "Finish" button in the MeeScan Kiosk iPad appears.  Tap the button to complete the transaction.
  • A receipt will be sent to your UNH Law email account.
