New Database - Lex Machina
Lex Machina is a legal analytics database with detailed data on case resolutions, damages, remedies, findings, counsel, and parties across a variety of state and federal jurisdictions. We have had a combination of interested parties request this unique database and the Law Library is happy to deliver. Lexis Machina is available to law school faculty, staff, and students who have a Lexis password. If you don’t have a Lexis password, please contact sue.zago@law.unh.edu.

How to access:
Login to Lexis at https://www.lexisnexis.com/lawschool/ and click on Lexis+
You’ll see a 9-point grid next to the Lexis+ logo – clicking on this will offer the other Lexis Products that UNH FP Law has access to.

We’ll look at the depth and breadth of their experience including how long it takes for their cases to reach specific milestones, how frequently they granted/denied specific motions, findings they have made and damages they’ve awarded.

As you start to use Lex Machina, please note that you can request court documents (federal district and some state court documents) please note the limitations of these two features below.
Fetch limitations
FEDERAL FETCH DOCUMENTS
Customer may utilize "Federal Fetch" document capabilities, meaning the ability to fetch Federal District Court documents not already available on the LM website. Currently, the PACER cost for new documents retrieved is ten cents ($0.10) per page. LM may choose, at its sole discretion, to bill Customer for Customer’s PACER charges triggered by Customer’s use of fetch functionality.
STATE FETCH DOCUMENTS
Customer may utilize Lex Machina’s “State Fetch” document capabilities, meaning the ability to obtain state court documents not already available on the LM website. Customer’s use of State Fetch is subject to the Volume-based Limitations and Cost-based Limitations contained in Appendix 1. Any complimentary period provided to customer is included in the initial Annual Limit
APPENDIX 1
STATE FETCH VOLUME AND COST LIMITS
(Tier 5)
Due to the complexity and cost of working with individual state courts, customer account-wide limitations are necessary for State Fetch. Limits are in place for total document volume (daily and monthly) and total document cost (monthly and annually). These limitations are in place at the Customer's account level, as opposed to the individual user level.
Additional charges are not incurred by using State Fetch; if Customer exceeds the volume or cost limitations, the State Fetch feature will be deactivated for all users in the Customer's account.
The availability, functionality and reliability of Lex Machina’s State Fetch depends on the availability, functionality, and reliability of the systems created by the courts in the State Court module. Lex Machina is not responsible for downtime or changes to the functionality of state court systems that affect the availability, cost, or reliability of the State Fetch function.
Volume-based Limitations:
Daily limit: 100 requests per day per court.
Monthly limit: 300 requests per month per court.
Cost-based Limitations:
Rolling 30-day limit: $480.
Annual limit: $960.
If the Customer exceeds the Volume-based or Cost-based Limitations, Lex Machina will disable a customer’s State Fetch until the customer’s usage is within the Cost and Volume Limitations, as determined by Lex Machina
